Dinçer İşgel is 33 years old and calls himself a documentary video artist. Instagram Reels-Feature made his vertically shot videos popular. His friend Ozan who we meet coincidentally in the Turk-Alman café where we are meeting for an interview, describes Dinçer as intuitive and impulsive. Two characteristics, which are the core elements of his work.

Dinçer lets me follow him around in the streets of Tarlabaşı, a rather poor area of Istanbul, just a few meters away from the well-known shopping street Istiklal. Dinçer has lived in Tarlabaşı seven years and now documents the places and people and everyday life. He captures spontanious, interactive and realistic moments and tries to save the neighborhood from its coming gentrification - or at least gives it a digitally tribute.

When I ask him, what he is looking for in the streets, how he decides, what to film, he says: I just capture normal life. Everyone actually sees, what I see and film: The streets, the moments, the people. But no one looks close, no one looks with the heart.
